Our sea

The intermuseum exhibition project "Our Sea" is an emotional journey into the summer of the 1970s and 1980s, into memories of seaside vacations, the gentle sun, and the salty breeze of our native coast. The project was initiated by the Dnipro Science and Technology Museum "Time Machines" and implemented in cooperation with the Mariupol Local Lore Museum.

The opening of the exhibition "Our Sea" took place on June 26, 2025 in the city of Dnipro. The project immersed visitors in a world of warm nostalgia: the sound of the surf, the aromas of sage and wormwood, cicadas in cypresses - all this came to life in the space of the "Time Machine" museum. The central accent of the exhibition was an artificial sea with sand and real Black Sea pebbles, which allowed you to literally touch memories.

The Mariupol Museum of Local Lore was a co-organizer of the exhibition, providing the project with 35 digital copies of paintings depicting seascapes from the museum's collection. This is how a virtual painting exhibition appeared - as a visual continuation of the physical exhibition.

The picturesque works of Ukrainian artists perfectly convey the atmosphere of the season of sun and vacations. A small selection of paintings from the fund collection of the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore. The originals of these works were ruthlessly taken from us by war. But the preserved digital copies make it possible to return to the shores of the Azov and Black Seas with your thoughts, immerse yourself in bright memories, and feel the freedom and joy that the seashore gives.

Among the works presented are real artistic gems, in particular the sketch "Red Sunset" by Arkhip Kuindzhi, the etude "Sea" by Lagorio, works by L.M. Gadi, O.P. Mogilevsky, Y.F. Zlydnya, S.P. Dzhus, B.V. Zhukov, O.P. Potypun, G.D. Pryshedko, V.D. Chegodar.

The physical exhibition welcomed visitors in the space of the "Time Machines" Science and Technology Museum in Dnipro until the end of August 2025, so that everyone who wanted to could visit their native Azov coast — at least mentally.
